Edmonton Chapter Fall Dinner (September 26, 2025) at 6:30 PM
Maple Leaf Room – Lister Centre (University of Alberta)

Please mark your calendar for Friday, September 26th and join us for our Annual CMDA Fall Dinner.  Once again we will gather in the Maple Leaf Room at Lister Centre on the campus of the University of Alberta.  We will meet at 6:30 pm, however, please come early (the greeting table is open at 6:00 pm) and socialize with our Chapter members along with the students/residents.  The Maple Leaf Room room is located on the 2nd Level of Lister Centre (Please see the attached Lister Centre -Directory Map at the end of this invitation).  Lister Centre is located at 11613 – 87 Avenue, Edmonton NW on the University of Alberta campus, just East of the Jubilee Auditorium.  Please use this map link for directions to Lister Centre in Edmonton.

Since this is the first of several events that are planned for the year, we would like to focus on Medical & Dental Electives; the Executive Members of our CMDA – Edmonton Chapter would like to encourage our medical and dental students, as well as other health-profession students, to be involved in these endeavors while in training, and even after their studies have been completed.  We have organized three speakers to present this year, one who is a practitioner, and two students that embarked on a mission trip.

The first guest speaker is Dr. Josh Wong; he completed his medical school training at the University of Alberta in 2009, and residency training in Plastic Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Alberta in 2016.  He further specialized with burns and trauma surgical critical care fellowship training at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, Washington from 2016-2017.  He is now an Associate Professor of Surgery with particular interest in burns, cold injury, trauma, complex wounds and skin malignancies.  He is the clinical competency chair for the residency program as well as the quality assurance officer of the Edmonton Firefighters’ Burn Treatment center.  Dr. Wong has entitled his talk “A Journey in Medical Missions”.

Our next two speakers are Caitlin Huynh and Yijun Guo; both these two dental students, who will be graduating in 2026, participated in a mission elective in a remote part of Guatemala.  We look forward to hearing them share their experiences in the mission field with us.

Please join us for an evening of informative talks, and socializing with fellow students and practitioners alike.

The costs of catering, and the room rentals for our events, have increased substantially over the last several years.  Fees paid by the graduates/practitioners help to subsidize the students that attend our events throughout the year.  The fees for our Edmonton Chapter Fall Dinner are as follows:

  • Graduates & Spouse/Guest:  $60.00 per person
  • Residents/Retirees & Spouse/Guest:  $30.00 per person
  • Medical/Dental/Other Health-Profession Students & Spouse/Guest:  $10.00 per person
  • Spouse/Guest attending Medical/Dental Students:  $10.00
  • 1st Year Medical/Dental Students:  Free/No Charge

To help with our planning, please register using the form below. One can make payment online, or alternatively, one can still make a cash/cheque payment at the door of the event (which you can indicate on the form itself). Once the fields of the registration form are filled, you’ll be directed to a page that will obtain your credit card information (it takes a few seconds to reach the payment page, so be patient). Following the payment, you’ll receive an email/text confirming your registration/payment. This registration procedure allows us to better prepare for the catering requirements at each of our CMDA Edmonton events.

Alternatively, if you wish to register with me in the traditional fashion, feel free to respond to me at my email address:  doug.h@haberstock.ca. You’re welcome, then, to submit your fees at the registration table which will be present at the Maple Leaf Room entrance.

(PLEASE NOTE:  If you wish to register your attendance with me directly, you are not required to register via this online version; however, you’re welcome to do so if you wish to make this your payment method.)

We encourage you to employ this new means of registering for our CMDA-Edmonton events. Know that you can always contact us via email (edmonton@cmdacanada.org) should you have any questions about our event, the registration, etc.
