Our Montréal Local Planning Committee has chosen to host the 2022 CMDA Canada Annual Conference in a national and regional hybrid format – online and in person (all in person events will be held locally and in accordance with public health recommendations). The national online event will be May 13th and 14th and will feature keynote presentations, the CMDA Canada AGM, an update from our Executive Director Larry Worthen, and special sessions for students and residents. Participants may join online as individuals or participate as part of a local in person group. In addition to the exciting content being planned for the Conference weekend, we will be collaborating with local graduate and student Chapters to host a series of events in the months before and after the Conference. They will be held in person or online depending on the local pandemic restrictions. These events will feature workshop presentations curated by the Montréal Local Planning Committee on a variety of relevant and interesting topics. If you would like to host a gathering in your area, contact Madison at email@example.com.
The Conference picks up the visionary theme from our 2020 conference, inviting us to seek hope in the Lord. Our keynote speakers will include Dr. David Levy, a renowned neurosurgeon, public speaker, and author of Gray Matter and Dr. Derry James-Tannariello, Chaplain, Pastor, Author, Speaker, Teacher and Founder and Executive Director of Freedom in Surrender Ministries. Many of the exciting planned workshops from 2020 will be presented, along with a slate of fresh content. Our thanks to the Québec planning committee for again taking up this labour which will benefit all members of CMDA Canada.
Dr. David Levy has performed high risk neurosurgery in California, where he resides, Paris (France), India, Kenya and Congo. He has also spoken in the USA and internationally on topics of neurosurgery, neuroscience and faith. In 2017, after 20 years of practice, Dr. Levy and his wife Naomi decided it was time to transition out of medicine to pursue his dream of teaching and creating resources for better brain and mind health. Using his knowledge of the Bible and the brain, Dr. Levy’s vision is to reveal God’s wisdom in a fresh and engaging way, helping people understand that God is good and desires relationship. Dr. Levy’s plenaries will discuss the benefits of prayer on health outcomes and forgiveness.
Derry James-Tannariello is Board Certified with the Association of Professional Chaplains. Derry carries a Doctor of Ministry specializing in Christian Counseling, a Masters of Divinity, a MA in Christian Psychology, a BA in Religion, and a BS in both Personal Ministries and Psychology. She was awarded VIP Woman of the Year from the National Association of Professional Women. Her plenary will unpack the practicalities of addressing the spiritual needs of patients for holistic care.
All students who register for the Conference will receive a copy of Dr. Levy’s bestselling book Gray Matter: a neurosurgeon discovers the power of prayer…one patient at a time in either French or English (selection during registration process).
