Edmonton Chapter Graduation Banquet – April 24, 2025 at 6:30 PM
Maple Leaf Room – Lister Centre (University of Alberta)
During this Holy Season, the executive of the CMDA-Edmonton Chapter wishes you a Blessed Easter, and hope that you’re celebrating the resurrection of our Lord and Saviour together with your family and friends!
We also want to invite you to join us for our very special annual CMDA-Edmonton Graduation Banquet, which will be held on Thursday, April 24th, 2025 at 6:30 pm. Graduating students in Medicine/Dentistry, and graduating Residents, will be recognized and honoured as our guests. Registration for the event begins at 6:00 pm, and we encourage you to come early. In keeping with last year’s tradition, the Graduation Banquet will be held in the Maple Leaf Room at Lister Centre on the University of Alberta Campus; this room is located on the 2nd Level of the Centre (Please see the attached Directory Map at the end of this email). Lister Centre is located at 11613 – 87 Avenue, Edmonton NW on the University of Alberta campus, just East of the Jubilee Auditorium. Please see the attached map link for directions to The Lister Centre.
We are privileged to have as our guest speaker Dr. Vijay J. Daniels, MD, MHPE, FRCPC, DRCPSC(CE).
Dr. Daniels is a General Internist, a Clinician Educator, and a Professor of Medicine at the University of Alberta (Fun Fact: he is also a multi-instrumentalist with two solo albums recorded). He is a passionate teacher with close to 40 teaching awards including three national awards. He, and his wife Lia, have three children aged 10-14, and their Berne-doodle “Eddie”. While they have called McKernan Baptist their church home for close to 20 years, their views are more ecumenical embracing a larger vision of “the church”. Vijay loves talking to our CMDA Canada membership and you can find his talks hosted at www.christianrockstardoctor.ca. For our current evening celebration, he has entitled his talk “Being Light in the Darkness”.
As you are aware medical/dental students, and residents, who are graduating will attend this event at no cost to them. To ensure that this tradition is maintained, the following fees will apply to the attendees:
- Graduates & Spouse/Guest: $45.00 per person
- Residents & Spouse/Guest: $35.00 per person
- Medical/Dental Students: $20.00 per person
- Spouse/Guest attending Medical/Dental Students: $20.00
- Retired Physicians/Dentists & Spouse: $35.00 per person
- Non-Medical/Non-Dental Students: $25.00 per person
- Graduating Medical/Dental Students: Free/No Charge
To help with our planning, please register using the form below. One can make payment online, or alternatively, one can still make a cash/cheque payment at the door of the event (which you can indicate on the form itself). Once the fields of the registration form are filled, you’ll be directed to a page that will obtain your credit card information (it takes a few seconds to reach the payment page, so be patient). Following the payment, you’ll receive an email/text confirming your registration/payment. This registration procedure allows us to better prepare for the catering requirements at each of our CMDA Edmonton events.
Alternatively, if you wish to register with me in the traditional fashion, feel free to respond to me at my email address: doug.h@haberstock.ca. You’re welcome, then, to submit your fees at the registration table which will be present at the Maple Leaf Room entrance.
(PLEASE NOTE: If you wish to register your attendance with me directly, you are not required to register via this online version; however, you’re welcome to do so if you wish to make this your payment method.)
We encourage you to employ this new means of registering for our CMDA-Edmonton events. Know that you can always contact us via email (edmonton@cmdacanada.org) should you have any questions about our event, the registration, etc.
